Is that really the right fix? In 1.3, at least, that would lead to the
situation where the server name and the port will be printed twice,
like:
   Apache/1.3.22 Server at my.host.dom:8443 Port 8443

IMHO the real fix is to repair the place where the ":80" is appended
(where from? there is no "80" in my config! probably default_port_for_*())
when I try:

  % openssl s_client -connect deejai2.mch.fsc.net:8443
  ....
  HEAD /manual HTTP/1.0

and get this response:
  HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently
  Date: Wed, 07 Nov 2001 23:08:06 GMT
  Server: Apache/2.0.28-dev (Unix) DAV/2 mod_ssl/3.0a0 OpenSSL/0.9.6a
  Location: https://deejai2.mch.fsc.net:80/manual/

  Connection: close
  Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1
