Post patches for things you want to fix.  Try to keep them small and
to the point (i.e., solve one problem).  Follow any resulting
discussion.  Post them again in a week if nobody seems to notice the
patch.  Graciously change your patch when somebody points out that
your left curly brackets don't match Apache coding guidelines :)

At the point where people trust your work and think you'll be around a
while you'll get commit access.
