The macro solution does not require them to learn about bucket brigades.

However, the macro solution exposes the module author to output
synchronization issues if he happens to call a subsystem that doesn't use
ap_r* or r->bb. The module author would then need to know implementation
details of those subsystems to ensure his output is generated correctly.
