Subject httpd-2.0 hosed?

i just did make distclean, cvs up, buildconf,
configure --with-mpm=mpmt_pthread --enable-so --with-maintainer-mode

make first bombs here:
config.c: In function `ap_register_hooks':
config.c:427: `ap_current_hooking_module' undeclared (first use in this
function)
config.c:427: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
config.c:427: for each function it appears in.)
make[2]: *** [config.lo] Error 1

cannot see ap_current_hooking_module anywhere else, comment it out, get a
bit further:

modules/mappers/.libs/mod_so.a(mod_so.o): In function `unload_module':
/home/dougm/ap/httpd-2.0/modules/mappers/mod_so.c:190: undefined reference
to `APR_GET_POOL'

that one doesn't exist anywhere.

server/.libs/libmain.a(exports.o)(.data+0x478): undefined reference to
`ap_hook_generic'
server/.libs/libmain.a(exports.o)(.data+0x47c): undefined reference to
`ap_generic_hook_get'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

those two are not in any .c file, except for the generated exports.c
