Yep, that's why I suggested it. But it appears that it might be
all FreeBSD versions below 4.1 which cause it. So the full
case would be:

    1*|2*|3*|4.0*)

As Marc said, however, the key is that we don't know *what* the
deal is with FreeBSD threads and what versions are OK, nor if
it's just how we use them.
