Ken is right.  There is a tradition of offering alternatives, and
in many cases offering code to go with them; but I can recall many
cases of "too lame for me" vetos.

In a case like this I pesonally would be reluctant to veto in 
the absense of a significant commitement of time to dive into 
the issue.

Arguing about the rules is silly.  Forming the consensus is what the
rule are intended to encourage.  Always ponder, is this moving us toward
consensus.  It's not a battle of wills.  I like the veto, it allows one
to say "no" without a torrent of words.
