My religion states that thou shalt not do things at run time that
can be determined at compile time.  It gets a bit murky when DSO
wades into the pool, but the principle works for daemon software.

Oh, my religion also states that thou shalt not continue religious
discussions under the subject heading of a long-past commit, but
sometimes I am a lazy heretic anyway.
