Subject [REQ] combining "allow" and "require" statements
Date Thu, 06 Apr 2000 10:13:28 GMT
Hi,

I'm trying to set up an .htaccess file which combines access to a
resource using the "allow" and "require" directives.

We would like to allow access to a machine from an internal LAN --
this would be done easily using the allow <IP-block> directive -- and
allow users from "outsite" by HTTP authentification -- using the
"require valid-user" directive.

Is there a way to combine these two directives so that apache acts as
follows:

1. if REMOTE_ADDR matches 192.168.1.x/255.255.255.0 -> allow access
2. otherwise ask for HTTP authentification credentials
3. if valid-user -> allow access

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
