The #ifdef is completely unneeded. #undef'ing something not defined
is A-OK. That's what I suggested by forcing it.

"true" according to K&R, IIRC, is '1' only during things like
"a>b" or "a&&b", things like that. But the concept of "true"
is simply non-zero.
