Subject Real application for alternate protocols?
Date Wed, 12 Apr 2000 18:51:25 GMT
Was just thinking about an opportunity for someone who wants to put their
handprint on Apache and create a module.

Seems a common issue that pops up on the www-servers.windows newsgroup are
the fools (pardon the thoughtless categorization) who don't 'get it' that
they need a DNS server to offer www.myserver.com, newstuff.myserver.com
etc... (where is Obviousman when you need him?)

Why not tightly bind that common interest into Apache with a _bare_bones_
DNS to serve up subdomains declared as servers/virtual servers? Not a good
solution for DNS id's of dialup ports, mail servers and the whole slew, just
simple subdomain webs.

If it interests you, want the feedback to this post, and look at mod_echo
for starters.
