AFAIK, there is no native crypt() function in Windows (any
flavour).  If that's the case, this would only work if we
bundled the function (from MSVC is it?) with our binary --
which means shipping encryption technology without a
licence.

We decided to work around this by including the exportable
MD5 engine to encrypt passwords on Windows.  That showed up
in 1.3.6, although it wasn't enabled properly (fixed in the
next release).
