You may want to add a comment that you should ensure you have enough
file descriptors available - the default per-process limit for 2.0.x
is 256 and for 2.2.x is 1024 and the default system-wide
(/proc/sys/kernel/file-max) for 2.0.x is 1024 and for 2.2.x is 4096,
which is less of a problem. There are kernel patches available to
remove these per-process limitations.

There may be stuff on the MindCraft response page at
http://lwn.net/1999/features/MindCraft1.0.phtml that is worth adding
too (fds were probably not the problem here).

Of course recommending not logging hostnames is also worth repeating.
