Indeed, in a heavily cached architecture, it becomes a lot harder to
statically determine the extent of memory usage. The big advantage of a
garbage collector is that automatic GC makes it impossible to make not
just leak errors but premature frees. With the Xerox GC in incremental
mode, you don't get the annoying pauses from broken (emacs) stupid(emacs)
garbage collectors (emacs).
