Subject [PATCH] mime.types update
Date Wed, 23 Sep 1998 23:09:15 GMT
After a couple of requests for mime.types stuff, I went ahead and
built an update. I

- wrote a Perl script to extract the MIME types out of the IANA
- wrote another Perl script to merge mime.types files
- Merged the Apache, IANA, Red Hat, and Mutt mime.types files.
- Undid some cleaning up that the scripts did so the patch would look
- Added entries for application/x-shockwave-flash and

The patch for mime.types is attached. Should the two mini-scripts go
in the repository somewhere too?

Marc (I think) raised an objection to a bunch of MIME types listed
without extensions. But, mime.types already has empty entries, so it
should either be kept up to date with the current MIME types, or
the empty entries should be pruned.

Thoughts? Is there a single source to get registered extensions for
MIME types without hunting through hundreds of RFCs, etc.?
