We can keep it around somewhere historically, I don't see why we need to
put that in the distribution.  Maybe a few pages on the web site, one page
per major release, showing the commit history... but in the distribution?

Sounds like a good idea.

Which is intentional, since 1.3 was split from 1.2.5, not 1.2.6.
