That would give three levels of access to modifying the string:

o ap_add_version_component - allows modules to announce their presence
   as part of the server
o SERVER_SUBVERSION - allows builders of binaries to make appropriate
   remarks about their work
o AddVersionComponent - allows the Webmaster actually running the
server to add comments about what they've done

Rather a nice model, since none of the above can blow away any of the
others without someone hacking the source. None of these will affect
the basic SERVER_BASEVERSION, which is what Netcraft examines. (Again,
source hacking required to change that).

These are additive. Give someone a way to express itself using a
supported mechanism like this, and I think the likelihood of the
server being made unidentifiable as Apache goes *down*, not up. MHO.

So, Jim, +1 (concept) on your patch to re-insert SERVER_SUBVERSION
after the PLATFORM clause.
