Other modules will most definitely want to do this!  The PHP3 project is
in about the same state as Apache in terms of multithread support.  It has
a decent TLS implementation for Windows (although the flex hack is still a
bit shaky), but on Unix we are really waiting for Apache to set a general
direction that we can follow.
