Submit a message here with [PATCH] in the subject, then folks can comment
on the implementation.  Right now 1.3 is in feature freeze, so the patch
won't be accepted, although someone could put it into contrib for you...
but if you hang around to the next unfreeze then you can resubmit the
patch and it is likely to be accepted.

Unfortunately we're notoriously bad at remembering patches which aren't
resubmitted :( Even when they go into the bugdb we tend to mark them
"suspended" and then forget to incorporate them.  We suck. 

I suppose the devsite docs should mention the [PATCH] thing.
