Exactly my opinion and why I said I don't care.  But it is a point to keep
in mind that it does have some negative impact, just not much.  OTOH, a
couple of lines of comments in .gdbinit saying what it is for and that you
can rm it if you don't want it or if it causes you problems wouldn't hurt
anyone. 

But yes, that is just the ancient version that came with the ancient
operating system on my ancient machine at home.
