FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SURVEY SHOWS APACHE IS KING

Callahan, FL -- An extensive survey of website hosting software conducted
in March by Addy & Associates shows the Apache webserver is king of the
hill.

The survey queried nearly two million domain names under the .com, .net,
.org., .edu, .gov and .mil domains. Rather than surveying all hosts on
the Internet, such as the NetCraft survey
(http://www.netcraft.co.uk/Survey/), the A&A survey only looks at
"primary" hosts, e.g. www.ufl.edu and not www.frodo.dormrooms.ufl.edu.
The survey attempts to measure what software is being used for a company's
primary web presence and is less concerned with what runs personal
webservers.

As expected, the Apache webserver is responsible for the vast majority of
websites. "Pure" Apache servers handle 51% of the domain names tested,
while other servers based on Apache, such as Stronghold, manage an
additional 6%. Microsoft servers accounted for less than 20%, while
Netscape holds just over 10%.
