Subject Win32 anoncvs build/run problems
Date Wed, 25 Mar 1998 05:32:04 GMT

Using cvs-1.9 from cyclic.com, I've checked out a local copy of
apache-1.3 from the anoncvs tree according to the documentation
in ftp://dev.apache.org/httpd/anoncvs.txt.

I then followed the compile/install instructions at
http://www.apache.org/docs/windows.html.

Using VC++ v5.0 on NT 4.0 SP3, I built a debug version of apache
with the following command:

  nmake -f makefile.nt _apached

I installed in \apache using the following command:

  nmake -f makefile.nt installd

After configuring httpd.conf, srm.conf, and access.conf for my
system, I then change directory to \apache and run apache.exe.

The server does not respond to requests and leaves the following
trail in error_log:

[Tue Mar 24 22:05:08 1998] [warn] Registry does not contain key
SOFTWARE\Apache Group\Apache\1.3 beta
[Tue Mar 24 22:05:08 1998] [debug] .\main\http_main.c(4997): child:

80, filedescriptor (144) larger than FD_SETSIZE (64) found, you probably
need to rebuild Apache with a larger FD_SETSIZE

[Tue Mar 24 22:05:09 1998] [error] (10022)Unknown error: select:

... a bazillion times ...

Tue Mar 24 22:05:09 1998] [error] (10022)Unknown error: select: (listen)
[Tue Mar 24 22:05:09 1998] [error] (10022)Unknown error: select:
(listen)
[Tue Mar 24 22:05:09 1998] [error] Too many errors in select loop. Child
process exiting.

Do I really need to rebuild with a larger FD_SETSIZE? If so,
why isn't this mentioned in the documentation?
