Subject [APACI] Update 980319
Date Thu, 19 Mar 1998 16:15:58 GMT

Some support which was now added to the current
APACI (ftp://ftp.apache.org/apache/dist/contrib/apaci/) package:

mod_perl Support
================

    $ cd apache-1.3
    $ ./configure --prefix=/tmp/apache \
                  --with-perl=/sw/bin/perl \
                  --add-modperl=../mod_perl-1.09
                  --enable-shared=perl
    $ make
    $ make install

This automatically builds and installs Apache 1.3 with
mod_perl 1.09 as a shared object under /tmp/apache. After
installing the Perl side via

    $ cd ../mod_perl-1.09
    $ perl Makefile.PL NO_HTTPD=1
    $ make all install

one can enable the created "LoadModule" line in /tmp/apache/etc/httpd.conf and
fire up Apache with mod_perl.

suEXEC support
==============

    $ cd apache-1.3
    $ ./configure --prefix=/tmp/apache \
                  --enable-suexec \
                  --suexec-caller=www --suexec-userdir=.www
    $ make
    $ make install

This automatically builds and install Apache 1.3 with suEXEC support for the
caller uid "www" and the subdirs ".www". The paths are adjusted automatically
for the suexec program.

Happy hacking,
                                       Ralf S. Engelschall
