Um, I'm been submerged in the murky waters of NT. I'm almost better now.
I didn't want to vote until I've tested on both NT and Unix.

Ok, except that surely it should still define -DLYNXOS in the GuessOS,
surely, rather than reply in a compiler-supplied __Lynxos__ in conf.h?

My +1 is for the proposed rationalisation of argument processing for
directives.

Oh but it will. I've tried repeatedly to reproduce this without success.

Make HSregex the default and opt-out only for OS's we know are safe.
