I wouldn't assume that.  I could see at least a small number of "loggers"
being active at the same time.  E.g. one logger would log to a database,
another would to logfiles, one logger for this format, that logger for
another format, etc...

Yes, you could do this in one logger system, but then you would have to
figure out inside the logger which vhost would need to be logged in what
way and where, and before you know it, you're developing yet another
configuration "language" just for logging.

Actually, what you probably would want to do is be able for each vhost to
specify which pipe (logger) to be used.  Not open a new pipe for each
vhost, but "hook up" the logging of a vhost to a "named" pipe.  Would that
make sense?
