Yes it is always good to see these patches.  Especially for the
scoreboard... if any lurkers have OSs that don't define HAVE_MMAP or
HAVE_SHMGET, and your OS does have working shared memory then you can get
a big performance improvement *and* a more reliable server by polishing
your port to use shared memory.  You can frequently just try with
-DHAVE_MMAP or -DHAVE_SHMGET and see if those two defaults work. 

While you're at it, you should try out which serialization directive
works.  1.2 has only fcntl or flock to choose from... but I posted code a
while back for 1.3 that adds pthreads, sysv semaphores, or irix uslocks.
