Subject [STATUS] Apache 1.2.3 (Tue 19-Aug-1997 10:41 MET DST)
Date Tue, 19 Aug 1997 08:41:57 GMT

STATUS for Apache 1.2.3
=======================

Release Status:

    o Already done:
           - Switching version from 1.2.3-dev to 1.2.3
           - Tagging of repository to APACHE_1_2_3
           - Rolling of the final tarball
           - Switching version from 1.2.3 to 1.2.4-dev
           - Moving the distribution file into
             ftp://dev.apache.org/httpd/dist/apache_1.2.3.tar.{gz,Z}
           - ** The final tarball was re-rolled because the "logs/" dir was
             ** missing due to a little bug in the creation commands
             ** from how_to_release. Now fixed. No problem for the
             ** version number this time because no source changes.
           - the directory structure for binary tarballs was created under
             ftp://dev.apache.org/httpd/dist/apache_1.2.3.binaries/
             and Marc's binbuild stuff was added, too.

    o Still to do:
           - creating binary tarballs with the stuff in
             ftp://dev.apache.org/httpd/dist/apache_1.2.3.binaries/BinBuild/
             (Look inside the subdirs or the table below to see which
              platforms are still missing)

           * Tue Aug 19 12:00 PDT:
           - Moving the source distribution files into
             ftp://ftp.apache.org/apache/dist/apache_1.2.3.tar.gz
             along with PGP .asc, CHANGES and KEYS files
           - Moving the binary distribution files into
             ftp://ftp.apache.org/apache/dist/binaries/
           - Updating apache-site/index.html for 1.2.3

           * Wed Aug 20 12:00 PDT:
           - Sending the ANNOUNCE message to apache-announce@apache.org
             (Brian: When I should do this you have to add me as
             an accepted poster to Majordomo for this list)
             and newsgroup comp.infosystems.www.servers.unix

    o Binary tarballs issues:

      For every platform marked with a "x" we now have to roll a binary
      distribution tarball. I've created the directory
      ftp://ftp.apache.org/apache/dist/apache_1.2.3.binaries/ containing
          - directories named according to the actual platform tag
          - a BinBuild directory containing a slightly changed
            binbuild.sh from Marc which used binbuild.README and
            binbuild.Configure files (also can be found there)
            ** USE THESE FILES TO CREATE A BINARY TARBALL **
      When releasing 1.2.3 the
      ftp://dev.apache.org/httpd/dist/apache_1.2.3.binaries/
      will be moved to
      ftp://ftp.apache.org/apache/dist/binaries/
