Huahhh, why didn't it already? Hmmmm... mod_rewrite still does it.
Interesting that I didn't see this lack in mod_alias in the old days, because
in the early days of mod_rewrite I compared all mod_alias stuff in depth.
Seems like mod_rewrite introduced this later ;-)
