Aehhh... this _IS_ already fixed in mod_rewrite 2.4.0. But no one of the
Apache Group gave response to my 2.4.0 announce. I really would have 2.4.1
with a correct snprintf/strncpy for Apache 1.2b7! It is really not nice for
the users if the version included in the Apache distribution is an old one and
has bugs while there is still a newer one available. I vote to include 2.4.1
into Apache 1.2b7. If there are problems I will fix it either, independed if
it is included or not. Because mod_rewrite is for Apache, all I do is for the
Apache Group.

There really is no need to split mod_rewrite. An official one and a patched
one for the Apache distribution. Just say what changes you need and _I will
incorporate all of them into the official version_ as long as they are ok (a
snprintf patch _WITHOUT_ #ifdefs for Apache 1.1.1 is NOT OK!).
