Subject:      conflicting types for `crypt'
To: MODPERL@listproc.itribe.net

I try to compile apache_1.2b1 and mod_perl-0.85_02 on a SunOS4.1.4
system using gcc 2.6.3. I get the following error:

gcc -I. -I../.. -I../../regex -O2 -DSUNOS4 -DSTATUS -DUSEBCOPY `/local/perl/d/bin/perl -MExtUtils::Embed
-e ccflags -e perl_inc` -DNO_PERL_TRANS -DNO_PERL_AUTHEN -DNO_PERL_AUTHZ -DNO_PERL_ACCESS
-DNO_PERL_TYPE  -DNO_PERL_FIXUP  -DNO_PERL_LOGGER      -c mod_perl.c
In file included from ../../httpd.h:59,
                 from mod_perl.h:12,
                 from mod_perl.c:55:
../../conf.h:68: conflicting types for `crypt'
/local/perl/d/lib/sun4-sunos/5.00307/CORE/perl.h:1112: previous declaration of `crypt'

It looks like both perl and apache define crypt:

perl:    char *crypt _((const char*, const char*));
apache:  char *crypt(char *pw, char *salt);

What is the best cure for this?

Regards,
Gisle
