Subject: WWW Form Bug Report: "plain dir listing problem / proxy serv. err messages" on OTHER:LINUX
Submitter: pbierma@ibm.net
Operating system: OTHER:LINUX, version: Power Mac DR2
Version of Apache Used: 1.1.1
Extra Modules used: mod_proxy
URL exhibiting problem:
Symptoms:
--
regarding dir listing:
I used 1.1.1b2 on my Linux devR2 von PM8100/100
- no problems but no proy and cache server
- got release source of 1.1.1, compiled without
errors (included the proy module)
- changed nearly nothing in the config-files
- now when trying from a remote Browser to get
a plain directory listing apache just returns
a pointer to the httpd-root directory.
- does not matter if fancy indexing is on or off
******************************
regarding proxy server err (unimportant)
- first worked fine
- then set the max cache size to 100000
after some time in the httpd errorlog
the following messages appear:
[Thu Nov 7 02:31:04 1996] open: /cache/proxy///////////////////////////////////
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
/////////////////////////////////////////////////: Too many open files
this will be written some 1000ths times until the
server volume is 100% full
- I now set the cache size to 10000, will see
what happens
thanks if you read this
many more thanks for a reply
sincerely
