Just a couple of quick points: if Configuration (or the -file argument)
does not exist, you get an error message from the rm in the trap. I think
this should use rm -f so it is quiet.

Also, shouldn't it be a fatal error if neither cc nor gcc are found?  It
currently creates a Makefile with CC=no-compiler-found. This might tempt
people to edit this line to their real cc (say acc on Solaris), when the
proper method is to edit Configuration.
