Subject $Id$ considered harmful
Date Wed, 25 Sep 1996 19:54:56 GMT
I've noticed that the sources in the current CVS tree have RCS $Id$
headers in them.

I've had nothing but problems with sources that use RCS headers.
Unless the release is done with "cvs export" (which is forgotten more
often than not, as far as I can tell), the headers make it harder to
import the code into another CVS repository.

Also, I've never really seen the point of such headers, at least not
when using cvs. You can always use "cvs log" to find out any
information you might need.

Can we get rid of these headers?
