We've seen something similar with Navigator 3.0 going via CERN 3.0 proxy
servers. Most GET requests work fine but occasionally (and randomly) the
GET will contain a full request viz:

gate-isdn.ukweb.com - - [12/Sep/1996:15:38:29 +0100] "GET / HTTP/1.0" 200 286
gate-isdn.ukweb.com - - [12/Sep/1996:15:38:35 +0100] "GET https://www.ukweb.com/get/ HTTP/1.0"
400 -
gate-isdn.ukweb.com - - [12/Sep/1996:15:38:37 +0100] "GET /get/ HTTP/1.0" 200 2026

Stronghold contained a bug that would cause full requests to fail with
a status 400 when it got a full request (it wasn't correctly counting the
extra "s" character of "https").
