I don't know which snapshot you have, but the one at from
the 12.8. compiles fine under my BSD boxes and even under a Solaris box:

:> uname -a
SunOS sunti5 5.5 Generic_103093-03 sun4m sparc SUNW,SPARCstation-10
:> gcc -c -g -DSTATUS -DSOLARIS2 mod_rewrite.c
:> ll mod_rewrite.[ch]
-rw-r--r-- 1 root other 71421 Aug 14 12:42 mod_rewrite.c
-rw-r--r-- 1 root other 10455 Aug 14 12:42 mod_rewrite.h

Hmmmmm... same for the current working copy here at But
we will see, it can only be a little problem. Just wait until 18:00 GMT at
14.8. I will update the snapshot on after I have done my
work today and then we will figure it out, ok?

Or is it related to the fact that I currently work and compile with
mod_rewrite under a Apache 1.1.1 version and you under a 1.2-dev version? I
will try gcc -Wall under a current 1.2-dev today before updating the
