I like it. +1.

A couple notes, though: I'd put in an EXTRA_CFLAGS or something, so
there's a place for someone to really put things that don't fit in the
other places.

Also, I do think -Iregex is a better idea than -DUSE_HS_REGEX. It's a bit
cleaner.
