Well, it makes it easier to find and replace the entry for a *particular*
directory or virtual server, should you want to, and also makes it easier
to recover if automated config maintenance machinery screws up.  (You
don't have to figure out where the bogus entry ended so you can start
re-parsing --- granted that bogus configuration syntax *anyplace* except
.htaccess files currently screws the server, but we have had an interest
already in moderating this to just disable the particular directory or
virtual server affected if the error is within a sectioning directive).
