Try instead switching allow and deny:

<LIMIT GET>
order allow,deny
deny from all
allow from .mydomain.domain
</LIMIT>

"order" describes the order in which deny and allow commands are 
evaluated, with the server evaluating them until it finds a reason to 
deny the request.  So, if it evaluates deny first, and finds a "deny from 
all", it decides not to send the file.

Let me know if this doesn't solve the problem...
