Subject OpenText use of Apache
Date Wed, 21 Feb 1996 18:56:14 GMT

Hello,

I'm writing to you on behalf of the Apache HTTP project. While we were
pleased to learn that Open Text are making use of our code in their
"Latitude" package, we are dissapointed to find that users of the
package feel the need to inform us of the lack of attention that
has been made to the terms in the Apache license.

Section 3 of the license (shown below) relates to advertising material
such as http://www.opentext.com/otmkt/allprod.html#webserver

*
* 3. All advertising materials mentioning features or use of this
* software must display the following acknowledgment:
* "This product includes software developed by the Apache Group
* for use in the Apache HTTP server project (http://www.apache.org/)."
*

Your advertising material fails to include the quoted text shown above.

Furthermore, users with access to the Latitude manual say there is
very little information in there which could be considered as fair
acknowlegement as requested in the license.

I include the full license below. Please read it and review your
advertising and documentation and let us know what actions you intend
taking to conform to the license.

Rob Hartill
on behalf of the Apache Project members.
