	My thing had to *write* to the db every access, because it
added a counter for a given user's daily limit. And yes, gdbm does
locking internally, but I learned that it does a flock() for its
locking. So it was 100K operations of
flock/open/read/seek/write/close/flock which killed me. I very much prefer

the boot/flock/open/read/seek/write/read/seek/write/read/seek/write...

of the new architecture.
