Hmm, well, the ac.uk network (JANET) is probably one of the biggest in the world in terms of bandwidth. SuperJANET, which Cardiff is on, is a 150Mb backbone. I think the problem is just that there are a LOT of users. If your experience is just Cardiff then the Movie database doesn't help :-) I can assure you that the co.uk network is a poor companion. The co.uk network is not a single network of course by any means so you'd have to say which bit of it you're on.
