Compiling 1.0.0 on SunOS using gcc -Wall is incredable noisy, and I
  don't remember it being so.

The SunOS library headers do not declare proper prototypes for many of
the functions which Apache uses, which gives rise to the warnings in
question. To get around this, I had supplied appropriate prototypes in
an #ifdef SUNOS in conf.h --- but *that* tripped up people who were
using GNU libc, which had incompatible declarations for some of the
same functions in its own headers.

The prototypes are still there, but they are now inside an #ifdef
SUNOS_LIB_PROTOTYPES. gcc -Wall -DSUNOS_LIB_PROTOTYPES is still quiet
(it's my standard procedure).
