slightly off-track, but as someone with a PhD in Software Engineering,
and experience of seeing others working to reach the same degree, I think
it's no big deal, and certainly doesn't qualify them as an expert on the
subject :-)

Hands on experience is the key.

The futher you go with education, the more you specialise, and the less you
know about things in general.  Drop out while you can kids !    ;-)
