ANNOUNCING RELEASE 1.4 OF THE NCSA HTTPD

NCSA httpd Release 1.4 is now available from
ftp://ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu/Web/httpd/Unix/ncsa_httpd/httpd_1.4

It includes a significant performance improvement over Release 1.3.

The performance improvement was achieved by pre-forking child processes
and code optimizations.  A complete list of the NCSA httpd enhancements
is available at http://hoohoo.ncsa.uiuc.edu/docs/Upgrade.html.

The 1.4 documentation is available at 
http://hoohoo.ncsa.uiuc.edu/docs/Overview.html, but we
are still updating some areas.

We will be using HyperNews to track bugs, discuss possible
enhancements and for FAQ and RAQ (recently asked questions).
