             Bug #: 52807
Summary: some random strings are accepted by "configure" as an
                    option without warning or notification
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.4.1
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Build
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: tixu@cs.ucsd.edu
    Classification: Unclassified

in httpd-2.4.1, if you configure like
#./configure -dfdfdfdfd

the software will tell you that:

configure: error: unrecognized option: `-dfdfdfdfd'
Try `./configure --help' for more information

which is really good system response.

But, if you type like
#./configure --with-dfdfdfdfd

the software keeps silent and just does configuration using default settings,
which is really a bad system response.

Is it possible to add some checks which can avoid a lot of human mistakes such
as typos?

Thanks!
