https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=50344

Summary: ProxyPass does not handle different protocols when
                    receiving 301 from backend
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.2.17
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: mod_proxy_http
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: joh_m@gmx.de

Hi all

I have an Apache trying to ProxyPass some location to another Apache.
The frontend one listens on https, the backend one on http.
In case the backend sends 301 I can rewrite the host address using
ProxyPreserveHost On.
The browser then tries to connect with the protocol the backend has set in the
redirect, which fails of course. I didn't find any way around this. So I
propose that ProxyPreserveHost should also care about the protocol.

I would prepare some patch if you agree.

Greetings
Johannes Müller
