Subject DO NOT REPLY [Bug 49809] New: DirectoryMatch treats $ as literal instead of EOL
Date Mon, 23 Aug 2010 13:29:34 GMT
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=49809

Summary: DirectoryMatch treats $ as literal instead of EOL
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.2.16
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Core
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: covener@gmail.com

DirectoryMatch treats $ as literal instead of an anchor for EOL. This dates
back to the initial DirectoryMatch support in 1.3.

This is highly unexpected and somewhat limiting, whereas an escaped $ works
fine and is natural in PCRE.

I intend to remove this behavior in trunk and document it in all releases (when
$ is EOL, getting the trailing slash right is not so intuitive wrt e.g.
DirectorySlash)
