Subject DO NOT REPLY [Bug 46358] New: Treat ';' like '&' in a query string
Date Sat, 06 Dec 2008 19:00:14 GMT

Summary: Treat ';' like '&' in a query string
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.3-HEAD
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: mod_rewrite

mod_rewrite does not escape '&' in query strings, since it's used as a
separator, but it does escape ';' when used in the same context.

The W3C HTML 4.01 specification recommends in:
to allow the use of ';' in place of '&'.

mod_rewrite should follow suit.

With this rule:
RewriteRule ^.*$ http://new\.domain\.com%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301]

got :

got :;b=2

Using the 'noescape' flag prevents the ';' from being escaped, but it should
not be necessary to specify it.
