Subject DO NOT REPLY [Bug 44612] New: Apache does not reset default DNS server upon apachectl restart
Date Sun, 16 Mar 2008 18:22:04 GMT
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=44612

Summary: Apache does not reset default DNS server upon apachectl
                    restart
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.3-HEAD
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Core
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: thatoneguy@aaronjangel.us

Changes to /etc/resolve.conf are not reflected immediately as one might expect.
Nor does 'apachectl restart' cause httpd to pick up new DNS servers. This was
verified by using 'tcpdump' to monitor DNS traffic; PHP scripts relying on DNS
would fail with resolution errors. Only after running 'apachectl stop' and
'apachectl start' would DNS queries be sent to the correct server listed in
/etc/resolve.conf.
