           Summary: unexpected behavior - htaccess - limit get - deny -
                    inline comment
           Product: Apache httpd-2
           Version: 2.0.52
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: mod_access
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: drinking.coffee@gmail.com

Apache/2.0.52 (2.0.52-28.ent) RHEL4

.htaccess: location: /httpsdocs

<Limit GET>
order allow,deny
deny    from    82.219.0.0/16           # nov2006 proxy Uk
deny    from    64.46.32.0/20           # nov2006 proxy rackforce
allow   from    all
</Limit>

Any hostname or IP listed on any DENY statement is blocked, regardless if a
comment immediately precedes the value.

In this case, both 82.219.0.0/16 was blocked along with '.uk'.

Another example:

<Limit GET>
order allow,deny
deny    from    82.219.0.0/16           # nov2006 proxy comcast.net
allow   from    all
</Limit>

Would also block .comcast.net. The only work around is to remove the trailing
white space IE: #comcast.net instead of # comcast.net
