Not cgid.  I assume it's part of mod_cgi.  It's really just

Script  PUT   /path/to/put-handler.pl

To what extent is this changed if *.pl is handled by 

AddHandler cgiwrapper *.cgi *.pl
Action cgiwrapper /path/to/wrapper

And again, it still seems like the it's using the return code (which is very
OS-dependent) instead of a result code returned by the application.
